Jim McLain, Phoenix AZ Roofer

  1. We are licensed, bonded and insured.

Our Arizona Registrar of Contractors license is flawless (ROC license number 276078). Also, for your peace of mind, we carry a $2m/$5m insurance policy and license bond as well.

  1. We have five star ratings on both Yelp and Google.

At the end of your roofing project, you will receive an invitation from us to write a review about your experience with Canyon State Roofing online.  No matter which roofing contractor you choose, please research the contractors’ online reviews! We are very proud of our stellar reputation!

  1. We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Canyon State Roofing has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau

We are members of the BBB, and are big supporters of their mission to educate and protect consumers.  Not only do we have an A+ rating, but we also have all positive reviews from our customers on our BBB profile!

  1. We live by our core values.

They are printed out and are prominently displayed in our office.  All our employees are also given a copy of our core values – laminated wallet size.  We ask everyone to carry it with them, read them, and live by them.

  1. We are certified by the Tile Roofing Institute.Tile roofing institute certified company in Phoenix, Arizona

The Tile Roofing Institute provides a formal education on the proper installation of Tile Roofs.  This is an internationally recognized organization and THE authority on Tile Roofing. Not only is all our management certified, but we have also sent our tile installation crews through this course, as well. Each TRI certified member is required to renew their certification every 2 years, so you can rest assured we are educated in all the newest techniques and upgrades available for your tile roof!

  1. We offer Green Roofing Materials.Phoenix AZ roofing company core value system

Canyon State Roofing is a certified installer for Duro-Last.  This is not an easy feat.  Duro-Last hand picks their installers, and we are required to follow strict guidelines. At the end of each Duro-Last project, the manufacturer sends their own inspector out to the jobsite to inspect the installation, and the contractor receives a score on the project.  As of 2016, our average score is 97/100!

  1. If we feel a re-roof is not your best option, we will tell you so.

Would you purchase a new car just because you have a flat tire? Hopefully not! Similarly, if we feel your roof is only in need of a tune-up vs a complete replacement, we will provide you with a cost estimate for that option.  We will educate you on how we came to that conclusion, and provide you with photos to illustrate our explanation. Education is the biggest difference between Canyon State Roofing and our competitors.  It is important to pass our knowledge on to our customers so they can make an informed decision on their roofing project.

  1. We are a member AND SPONSOR of the Arizona Roofing Contractors’ Association.

The Arizona Roofing Contractors’ Association (ARCA) is largest trade association in Arizona, and we are proud to support them! Owner Jim McLain has been roofing in Arizona for more than 30 years. Although ARCA is an organization filled with our competitors, most of those competitors are also old, dear friends of Owner, Jim McLain.  We enjoy being a member of ARCA because it gives us the opportunity to share information with other roofing contractors on topics that are important to us such as changes in OSHA compliance, building code changes, education on new roofing techniques, new roofing products. We are SPONSORS of ARCA because we value the importance of Safety training and continuing education.  ARCA offers OSHA Safety classes for ALL roofing contractors in Arizona. Above all, we want all roofers, both in our company and our competitors, to be safe and educated in their trade!

  1. We are from Arizona.004 (3)

Jim Mclain was born in Arizona in 1960, attended Longview Elementary in Phoenix, and graduated from Peoria High School. He spend 6 years traveling overseas while serving in the Marine Corps, and returned to Arizona where he has lived for the last 30+ years.  It is important to choose a roofing contractor that is familiar with Arizona’s unique desert climate.  Our architecture, building codes, and materials are very different from other parts of the country!

  1. We are proud members of the AACM (Arizona Association of Community Managers), Central Association Institute (CAI).

This affiliation allows us to work hand-in-hand with some of the largest property management organizations in the Phoenix Metro area.

  1. We will never let a storm chaser work under our license.

Or let ANYONE work under our license, for that matter. After a large storm, “Storm Chasers” come into town and set up shop temporarily to sell a lot of storm related projects, then leave town after several months to chase the next storm.  Many times, a homeowner is then left in a tough position because nobody is around to honor their warranty, or the local license holder gets left with a mess of storm related projects that were done under his name that were hurriedly pieced together, and the quality of workmanship is poor. We insist on using the highest quality materials and provide a thorough education for our crews so each roof we work on will last as long as possible.

  1. We offer amazing warranties on our roofs.IB Roofing Installation in Arizona

We offer LIFETIME warranties on residential flat roofs, 20 year warranties on Tile roofs, and 15 year warranties on most other types of roofing. Chances are, you will never have a warranty issue.  99.9% of our roofs never do. But rest assured and we will always be there to service our roofs.

  1. The owner has been roofing in Arizona for a long time.

Jim McLain started roofing in Arizona in 1983!  He went to work for a large Arizona roofing contractor training to install all types of roofing systems. He worked his way up to become a supervisor and successfully ran both large and small roofing/ retrofit projects all over the country. After leaving that company he went back to school and received advanced training in construction safety and trained other roofing contractors in 10 hour OSHA training certifications. He then went on to purchase a roofing company, and has run all operations of what is now known as Canyon State Roofing & Consulting.

  1. Our word is impeccable.

There is only one way to run a successful business: with honor and integrity.  We promise to always be honest in our business transactions.

  1. We will take the time to listen to you.

We will talk to you about the goals you have for your roofing project, and do our best to understand what it is you are trying to accomplish.  We will educate you on the options available, and help you decide which direction is best for your particular situation.

  1. We will only use the highest quality materials on your roofing project. New Tile Underlayment on an Arizona Roof

We use G40, Tile Seal, Ice & Water Shield, and other high quality materials for your roofing underlayment on tile roofs (some of our competitors are still using substandard materials such as 15# felt or rolled roofing).

We will only use single ply or modified bitumen to re-roof your flat patio. Every year, we have dozens of people call us to fix patio roofs where our competitors have used “rolled roofing” on their patio.  This is illegal.  Arizona Building code R905.5.2 states: “Deck slope Mineral surfaced roll roofing shall NOT be applied on roof slopes below one unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (8-percent slope)”. In laymen’s terms: Rolled roofing does not meet code for flat decks. We also will never use 15 # felt on shingle or tile roofs.  Some “old school” contractors are still using this sub-par material, which has proven to fail in as little as 10 years or less!

  1. We offer complimentary consultations.

Your time is important, and you should have the opportunity to meet your contractor in person to make sure they will be a good fit for your project before you hire them. Our estimates include a photo gallery of your roof, and options at every price level.  All these services are complimentary.

13. We support local, nonprofit organizations.

Aside from the BBB, ARCA, AACM, CAI, and others that are too numerous to list here, one of our favorite things to do when we are not roofing is play in Little League Baseball! Jim McLain was the President of South Mountain-West Little League when his son, Rick, was a Little League player.  Now, for the last 6 seasons, Canyon State Roofing has been a proud sponsor of many Little League teams. Jim currently coaches his son, Andrew’s Little League team at Gilbert National Little League.

  1. We will stay on schedule.

And we will keep you informed of the progress on your roofing project.

  1. We will always use 6 nails per shingle.

We know it costs a little more, but we care deeply about the quality of our workmanship.  The industry standard is 4 nails per shingle.  Or worse, some use staples instead of nails!

  1. A live employee of Canyon State Roofing will always answer the phone (not an answering service).

Robyn, our office manager, has been working for Canyon State Roofing for over 5 years In that time, she has attended many educational courses in roofing, attended the ARCA trade convention the last 4 years, and can generally answer many questions about your roofing project when you call.

  1. The owner is a true journeyman roofer.

We conduct companywide safety meetings on a regular basis, as well.

Because we are family owned and operated, we do not have a lot of the overhead costs that other Arizona roofing companies have. We pass this savings on to our customers.

We only use the highest quality of materials, and we never cut corners. We send all our crews for continuing education in roofing and safety.

Because of this, we are usually end up being the middle priced- contractor in a bid situation.

  1. A lot of our customers become our personal friends.

Coach Jim and his Canyon State Roofing Little League franchise team members :)
